Plan, film and edit a fictional film - all in one day!

The Melbourne Women in Film Festival, ACMI Education and Deakin University present this intensive filmmaking workshop, which introduces production elements such as storyboarding, cinematography and editing by giving students the opportunity to explore creative filmmaking roles. Working collaboratively to interpret a screenplay, students will explore concepts of genre, gender representation and finding voice within storytelling.

 

Participants will:

  • Understand the different phases of film production and the creative roles involved 

  • Consider tropes, codes and conventions of different genres

  • Produce a storyboard and shot list from a script 

  • Film and edit their films with support from ​industry ​mentors

  • Learn about the local screen industry

This program is open to female and gender diverse young people, aged 15-18.

Media Arts levels 9 & 10

  • Experiment with media processes and skills, media language and media technologies throughout the production process to construct representations that reflect ideas, perspectives and meaning (VC2AMA10D01)

  • Reflect on, analyse, evaluate and document their own or others’ media arts works and/or practices to refine and inform choices they make throughout the production process (VC2AMA10D02)

Drama levels 9 & 10

  • Apply design areas to both devised and scripted works to enhance meaning for an intended audience (VC2ADR10C02)

  • Reflect on, analyse, evaluate and document their own and others’ drama work to inform choices and interpretations made both as artists and as audiences (VC2ADR10D02)
